Trade mark registration starts before the form.

We clarify what you want to protect, where and for which goods or services, then identify missing application information.

What it is

An application adapted to the sign and the business.

Trade mark registration involves choosing the sign, territory and classes of goods or services. Before filing, it helps to understand the protection sought and possible risks.

Who it is for

You have a name, logo or sign in use or planned for launch. You want to separate availability questions from filing questions and need a framework for classes and geographic scope.

Working steps

01 — Understand the context. What is the sign, who uses it and what should be protected. 02 — Assess what to check. A search may reduce uncertainty. 03 — Prepare the filing. Structure the information after validation.

Fees and timeframes

Reference official fees (2026, indicative, not an offer): OSIM (Romania) — filing 51 RON, publication black&white 152 RON / colour 508 RON, plus a per-class examination fee (variable). EUIPO (EU trade mark) — EUR 850 for the first class, +EUR 50 for the second class, +EUR 150 for each additional class. Final fees, eligibility and classes are confirmed in the official source (osim.ro, euipo.europa.eu) at filing time.

Is a trade mark registered in Romania automatically protected in the EU?

No. The scope of protection is a separate decision. EU-wide coverage requires a separate page and analysis.

Does filing guarantee that the mark will be accepted?

No. Nothing on this website promises an outcome. The competent authority examines the application under the applicable procedure.
